The late great incomparable Ayrton Senna, on his way to

his first pole position of his career, at the Portuguese GP in 1985.

He then went on to take his first F1 victory, with a display

of driving brilliance in very wet conditions.

Here he is seen on full qualifying boost of up to 1200bhp in his

Lotus Renault Turbo 97T, which he piloted to 2 victories,

2 second and 2 third places on his way to 4th place in the

drivers championship in the 1985 season.

Senna was often untouchable in qualifying, he secured 7 poles in

this Lotus, despite it not being the best car in the field that year.
